On Memorial Day weekend, Karen and Kayla came to visit us in Washington. The weather o Sunday morning was gorgeous with cool, dry air and blue skies. We drove about 40 minutes to see Glenstone, an indoor and outdoor museum outside of DC.

Split Rocker

The most memorable sculpture is a flower-and-plant-covered wireframe of a rocking horse, which sits on top of a hill. You can see it from every direction. The artist is Jeff Koons.

Audrey got up close to the rocking horse to see how it was made. It would be even more beautiful later in the summer, when it grows its full head of flower hair.

Grounds

We had a relaxed 2 miles stroll through the grounds. There were flowers everywhere. The path took us through meadows, a forest, and an along a stream.

Sculptures

Along the path, we enjoyed many sculptures. There were also huge galleries, but photography was not allowed. The art was very modern. The pavilion building was like a tomb; not the most likeable building. But it had beautiful views through big windows in every direction.

A Great Morning
